Out skiing today at Downing Mountain with the two to three feet of fresh settling in warm temps, we cautiously approached the summit of the Crown at 8454′ and skied the glades from the summit down towards Barley Lake. First opportunity to get on this line this year and it was heaven. Followed up with the long run back down to the lodge we enjoyed really good creamy powder skiing back to the lowlands. This last storm boosted the snowpack to 5 feet at most places above 7500′ and the skiing remained good despite warm conditions. With another round of snow forecast for later this week it might be we are into the moist pattern for awhile. Here is to dreaming. Posted the best of ski photography from the early winter below…
