1-11-11 Downing Mountain

Another great day at Downing Mountain with a couple last minute guests and Jenny. We skied three laps in the crown bowl and a run down Bear’s Breath Bowl to the north before bouncing our way back to the long run back to the lodge. That final 2500′ descent is a sure thigh burner at the end of the day. We were able to release a small localized slab which ran and caused a sluff below which quickly stopped on the 30 degree terrain. Other than that stability was good on steep slopes with nothing to cause concern. Of course this will all change with the advent of this much threatened storm coming tomorrow.
