Today I set out to capture some video. Armed with a new, low tech aberration of equipment I already own, I managed to get the monkey to ride on my back and shoot some video of skiing at Downing Mountain. I took video of the three runs we took and it has been great watching the movies on the big screen at home and enjoying the run again with friends and family.  The skiing was magnificent and we focused on safely skiing as we build up our own base. There is persistent evidence of instability so we stayed off the 35 degree or steeper terrain. I hope to have the videos on youtube by tomorrow. Yup…  http://www.youtube.com/user/johnlehrman?feature=mhum#p/a/u/0/E81yIu505v4

From friday there was another 6-10 inches of fresh snow which covered up the rain crust nicely. With the trail breaking deep and the snow penetration, Don and I  wallowed into  the high country. There was little wind affect except in terrain enhanced areas where there was a slab development. We eyed the crown which, while looking pretty good, we chose to wait. Shore break to the tarn was splendid for a second run and we skied off the outing with a long run back to the lodge. Finished the day with some more plowing on the access road and then went home.
